The
Club is continuing its Cadet Training Scheme, with the aim of making
the facilities of the club available to a number of younger people
at a reduced cost, to promote gliding amongst
the young. Places are available for up to four cadets, and cadet membership lasts for one year. The scheme ususally starts around August
of each year.

It is hoped that cadets will progress to going solo, and go on to
become full members of the club (although this is not a precondition). The mimimum age to fly a glider solo is 16 years.
The number of lessons required before a student is ready to fly solo
varies greatly.
The three main factors which influence this are age, ability and
continuity of training.
Application
forms are available from the club, and should be returned by the
specified date.
For further information on the cadet scheme, please contact the
Secretary.
